Nik Stauskas is a Canadian professional basketball player who last played for the Boston Celtics of the NBA as a shooting guard.

A Lithuanian heritage player played for the NBA G League with Grand Rapids Gold earlier.

He was drafted into NBA in 2014 by the Sacramento Kings in round 1, picked 8th overall. 

Stauskas was also part of two seasons of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition, with the Michigan Wolverines during the competition.

Nikolas Tomas Stauskas (born October 7, 1993) is a proficient Canadian basketball player, born to Paul and Ruta Stauskas. He has an older brother named Peter Stauskas.

Stauskas had little interest in the popular Canadian ice hockey or street hockey sports, and he began playing soccer at six but was forced to retire due to an arm injury.

So instead, he began playing basketball with Ausra Sports Club, a traveling team for the youth of Lithuanian heritage based in Toronto.

Stauskas’s parents are supportive of his interest in the game. He often shares pictures with his mother on social media, where his mother is often attending his matches and motivating him.

As a child, he was a Toronto Raptors fan who played a practice match with Vince Carter, his idol, at a fan gathering.

This incident fueled his passion for the sport even more. Then, when he was in fifth grade, he and his older brother Peter decided to build a basketball court in their yard instead of a swimming pool.

Stauskas went to Loyola Catholic Secondary School and started playing basketball.

After graduating high school, the athlete went to Michigan for a college degree. He continued his playing career at the university.
