Andrei Vasilevskiy, a goaltender for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL), was born on the 25th of July 1994 in Tyumen, Russia. Vasilevskiy, who played junior hockey in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), made a successful transition to the NHL in 2014-15 and has been a rock-solid performer ever since. Andrei began his career playing in his native country of Russia with Salavat Yulaev Ufa, a member of the KHL. After two seasons in Ufa, this young man was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2012 edition of the NHL Draft.

In his rookie season with the Lightning, he played 16 games in the regular season. The Russian recorded 2.36 goals against average and a .919 save percentage then. However, despite his efforts, he had to go back to playing for the Syracuse Crunch, the primary development affiliate of the Lightning. The Crunch were his first-ever team after he moved from the KHL. Thankfully, it wasn’t much longer before the Tampa-based team realised that they needed his services.
