Jon Rahm Bio: Early Life, Family, and Education
Jon Rahm Rodríguez was born on November 10, 1994, in Barrika, Biscay, Spain. Edorta Rahm, his father, was from Basque Country, while his mother, Ángela Rodríguez, belonged to Madrid.
Rahm was interested in sports from a very young age, and he started playing golf before the age of 7. Similarly, he participated in canoeing, jai alai, soccer, and kung fu until 14. After that, he left these sports activities to focus on a golf career.
Hence, he practiced golfing at Centro Nacional de Golf, the model course in Madrid created by Spain’s Royal Golf Federation.
His parents encouraged him to play golf since they enjoyed the sport themselves. Edorta and Ángela first took up golf after seeing the 1997 Ryder Cup in Valderrama, so they naturally taught the sport to their children.
Jon attended IES Ortega y Gassett, a high school in Madrid, Spain. He won several European golf competitions, like the Jacques Léglise Trophy (2011) and Bonallack Trophy (2012).
