Johnny Knuckles was a young man who had a bright future ahead of him. He was a graduate of Rock Creek Community Academy, a beloved son, brother, and boyfriend, and a passionate motorcycle enthusiast. He was also a native of New Albany, Indiana, where he was born on January 21, 2002. He died on August 10, 2023, at the age of 21, after being involved in a fatal motorcycle crash in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

The Accident that Took His Life

According to the police report, Johnny Knuckles was riding his motorcycle on Veterans Parkway around 9:30 p.m. on August 10, 2023, when he collided with a car that was turning left at an intersection. The impact caused him to be thrown from his bike and suffer severe injuries. He was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The driver of the car, whose name has not been released, was not injured in the crash. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident and whether any charges will be filed.

The Legacy He Left Behind

Johnny Knuckles was more than just a victim of a tragic accident. He was a person who touched many lives with his kindness, generosity, and charisma. He was known for his love of sports, especially football, track, and baseball. He played for the Rock Creek Academy Lions and earned several awards and honors for his athletic achievements.

He is survived by his parents, Shonda Knuckles (James) and Joshua Knuckles, Sr. (Jordan); his siblings, Hailey, Joshua Jr., Jordan, Kaden, Judah, and Amelia; his grandparents, Tom, Bernice Ballew, Johnny Knuckles and Jeanne Halverson; and his girlfriend Destiny. He is also mourned by many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.

His funeral service was held on August 15, 2023, at the Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville. Many people attended to pay their respects and share their memories of Johnny. His obituary described him as “a shining star in our school community” and “a shining example of kindness and leadership”.
