Upbringing

Kylie Bearse was born on the 16th of March 1989 in Minnesota, USA. Even though Kylie was born in Minnesota, her family moved a lot and settled for a short while in New York, Illinois. The family moved to Arizona later and that was where Kylie graduated high school. Following her time at high school, Kylie joined the School of Journalism.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder and a certificate in meteorology from Mississippi State University. She has also studied Italian language and media at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, Italy.

Love for the Weather

Kylie did weather reports while she was still at University and hated when people called her the weather goal. However, her views changed when she interned at 9 News and got to interact with fellow female meteorologists. Following her internship, Kylie decided to go back to college and started working on her meteorology degree. Talking about the experience, Kylie revealed,

“I originally went into journalism because I was good at reading and writing, it came really easy to me and I loved it. If I’m being honest, I was afraid of going back to school to study Meteorology and focus on science, but I actually enjoyed it and surprised myself when I was good at it. Becoming a scientist is one of the things I’m most proud of. “
