Nick Lowden Cause of Death: The Victorian and South Australian football mourn sudden death of Norwood star player.

Nick played 22 League games across two seasons with Norwood Football Club in 2022 and 2023. He had previously played for the Casey Demons in Victoria.

On Friday, August 4, Norwood announced the sudden death of 23-year-old SANFL star, Nick Lowden who died on Thursday.

“The Norwood Football Club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of premiership player and current squad member, Nicholas Lowden,” the club said in a statement on Friday. “The club is devastated by his passing, and is thinking of his family, the playing group, coaches, and the wider Norwood Football Club community at this difficult time.”

“A powerful, strong player around the contest, Nick immediately made an impact on the field ensuring that his presence was felt particularly by opposition players.”

Lowden made his League debut at Norwood Oval in Round 8, 2022.

The former VFL star and Coates Talent League junior player came from the Gippsland Power and was picked up by Norwood from Casey. He also played for the Darwin Buffaloes in the NTFL for a while.

“A dark day for the Norwood footy club and the wider football community.. So sad and just 23 years old.. Suicide is never the answer, please remember It’s OK to NOT be ok. Rest in Peace young man,” a tribute post shared via social media read.
