She started working at Warrior body piercing in Philadelphia in 1996 and later moved to, Gemini body piercing, a company she founded herself. She worked as a body piercer for five years up until 2001 and decided to leave it all to follow her passion for poetry and writing.

Over the years, Oberg has worked on a few collections both as a writer and editor. One of her first works was as an editor for Joe Knetter’s Twisted Loneliness, a collection of short stories.
