Joseph George Lucchesi (born June 6, 1993) is a professional baseball pitcher for the San Diego Padres. Lucchesi graduated from Newark Memorial High School in Newark, California, and attended Southeast Missouri State and Chabot College, where he played school baseball. In 2015 and 2016, he was also named the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year.

Lucchesi delivered a spectacular display alongside the Tri-City Dust Devils. On July 28, he pitched a no-hitter against the Spokane Indians, combining with two different pitchers. Lucchesi kicked off the new year with the Lake Elsinore Storm.

He was 0–2 with a 1.29 ERA in 15 final games between the two groups, striking out 56 batters in 42 innings.

Lucchesi split 2017 between the Lake Elsinore Storm and the San Antonio Missions, compiling an 11–7 record with a 2.20 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 24 complete games (23 starts).

Lucchesi made his major league debut on March 30, 2018, at Petco Park against the Milwaukee Brewers, becoming the primary pitcher from the 2016 draft to reach the major leagues and the second player overall behind Austin Hays.

He began the game and pitched 423 innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out one; he had no choice as the Brewers thrashed the Padres 8–6.

Lucchesi spent a month on the disabled list in late May and early June due to a right hip issue, but was otherwise a reliable member of the Padres’ turn. He finished his 2018 rookie campaign with an 8–9 record and a 4.08 ERA in 26 appearances.

He sparked the revolution by striking out 10 batters every nine innings and has only recently reached halfway of 5.0 innings per start.
